The Nation Nigeria comprises of 36 States of which every state has it’s own name, slogan, and capital.
Majorly, State slogans give an idea of the state’s main feature, culture, and driving force.
The whole process of the creation of States in Nigeria started in the year 1996. This division of the country into States, however, affected the political structure of the country because unlike before, every state now has her judiciary, executive Governor and it’s lawmakers.

1. Abia State
This state was established in the year 1991, the capital of this young state is Umuahua City and the state’s slogan is God’s Own State.
The popular commercial area of this state is Aba.
2. Adamawa State
This state is located in the North-East part of the country. The states capital is known as Yola and it’s slogan goes “Land Of Beauty, Hospitality and Sunshine.
3. Akwa Ibom State
This state was formed in the year 1987 and it’s capital is the famous Uyo city. The state’s slogan is : “Promised Land “

4. Anambra State
This state got its name from the Anambra River known as Oma Mbala in the igbo language, the capital for this State is Awka while the slogan is “Home For All”.
5. Bauchi State
Founded in the year 1976, this unique state has more than 54 tribal groups.
The capital of this state is Bauchi city and the state’s slogan is “Pearl of Tourism”
6. Bayelsa State
This is a state situated in the southern region of Nigeria established in the year 1996. The state’s capital is Yenagoa while the state’s slogan is “Glory Of All Lands”
7. Benue State
The capital of this middle belt state is Makurdi while the state’slogan is Nigeria’s food basket. This state was named after the local river found in that region when it was established in the year 1976.
6. Borno State
The capital of this unique state is Maiduguri while its slogan is “Home of Peace”
9. Cross River State
This is a state established in the year 1976 and located in the southern part of Nigeria and Calabar is the state’s capital while the state’s slogan is “The Nations Paradise.
10. Delta State
Established in the year 1991,the capital of this state is Asaba city while it’s slogan reads: ” The Big Heart”
11. Ebonyi State
This is a state located in the South East region of Nigeria. The state’s capital is Abakaliki while the state’s slogan is “Salt of the Nation”. This state was established in the year 1996.
12. Edo State
The capital of this well known state is Benin City and the States slogan says: “The heart of the nation”.
This state has a high population of more than 8 million people.
13. Ekiti State
Established in the year 1996 and Situated in the Western part of Nigeria, the capital of this state is Ado Ekiti and the States slogan is “Fountain of Knowledge”.
14. Enugu State
This is a well known South-Eastern state in Nigeria. The capital of this state is Enugu while the state’s slogan is “Coal City State”.
15. Gombe State
This is a state located in the North-Eastern region of Nigeria with it’s capital in Gombe city. The slogan of this state is “Jewel In The Savannah”.
16. Imo State
Founded in the year 1976, this state is situated in the South East region of Nigeria. The capital of this state is Owerri while the state’s slogan is ” The Eastern Heartbeat”.
17. Jigawa State
Established in the year 1991, this state’s capital is Dutse while the state’s slogan is “The New World”.

18. Kaduna State
Popularly known by its slogan which reads: ” Centre Of Excellence”, this state is located in the North-Western part of Nigeria and the States capital is Kaduna Town.
19. Kano State
Founded in the year 1967, this state’s capital is kano and the States slogan is ” Center of Commerce”.
20. Katsina State
The capital of this unique state is Katsina while the state slogan is “Home of Hispitality”
21. Kebbi State
Located in the North West part of Nigeria, and established in the year 1991, the capital of this state is Birnin Kebbi and the state slogan is Land Of Equity.
22. Kogi State
This state was created in the year 1991 and it is located in the centre of Nigeria. The capital is Lokoja city and the States slogan is “The Influence State”.
23. Kwara State
Situated in the Western region of Nigeria and established in the year 1967, the capital of this state is Ilorin city and the state slogan is “The Place Of Harmony”.
24. Lagos State
Well known by its slogan “The centre of Excellence” the capital of Lagos state is Ikeja.
25. Nasarawa State
Established in the year 1996, The capital of this state is Lafia and the States slogan is Nigeria’s Home Of Solid Minerals”
26. Niger State
Located in the centre of Nigeria, the capital of this state is Minna and the slogan reads: “The Power State.
27. Ogun State
The capital of this state is Abeokuta and its slogan is Gateway State
28. Ondo State
The capital of this state is Akure while it’s slogan is popularly known as the Sunshime State.
29. Osun State
Created in the year 1976, the capital of this state is Osogbo and the state slogan is the Living Spring.
30. Oyo State
Popularly known by its slogan which reads: “Pace setter”, the capital of this state is Ibadan city.
31. Plateau State
This is one of the largest states in Nigeria. The states capital is Jos while it’s slogan reads: “Home of Piece And Tourism”.
32. Rivers State
Created in the year 1976, the capital of this state is Port Harcourt City while it’s slogan is “Treasure Base”.
33. Sokoto State
The capital of this 1976 created state is Sokoto and the slogan is “The seat of the Caliphate”
34. Taraba State
Known by it’s slogan which reads: “Natures Gift To The Nation”, this state was created in the year 1991 and it’s capital is Jalingo.
35. Yobe State
The slogan of this state reads: “The young shall grow”. Established in the year 1991, the capital of this state is Damaturu
36. Zamfara State
This state was created in the year 1996, the capital of this state is Gusau and the States slogan is “Home Of Agricultural Products”.
