National Identification Number (NIN)  is used by the government as a means of tracking their citizens to have a functioning database of their citizens, permanent and temporary residents for the purpose of work, taxation, healthcare, and other government-related functions.

Enrolling requires recording of an individual’s demographic data and capture of the fingerprints, head-to-shoulder facial picture, and digital signature. At the completion of enrollment into the National Identity database, you will be assigned an eleven-digit number, which will be your NIN.

After collecting your NIN, you link it to your phone numbers, your bank, your spectranet, etc.

Guidelines On How To Renew For The First Time

For the first-timers please follow this guideline.

Login to https://selfcare.spectranet.com.ng using your USERID and PASSWORD.

Click on the  “Make Payment” Tab.
Select the “WebPay” option.

Input the amount you intend to pay and submit.

Agree by ticking the check box, after that, you can proceed.

Select your card type and follow the prompt “Payment Successful”.

Choose the tab “I want to” and choose “change plan”

Click on the icon “Change Immediately”.

From the plans presented before you choose one and click on confirm to change immediately.

How To Register For Your NIN 

You can fill your pre-enrollment form online.
Download and print pre-enrollment slip.
Fill the NIMC pre-enrollment online.
Walk into the nearest Nimc registration center with your documents, At the enrollment center, you will verify the presence and compliance of all details for your application.

If your application is in order, the enrollment officer will guide you to process with the capture of biometrics then you will collect the transaction ID slip.

The normal time frame for issuance of the National Identification Number (NIN)  Slip is 2 to 3 working days from the time the biometric details were captured at the enrollment centers.

The issuance of NIN may take longer in certain places due to the validation of details by NIMC.

WHY SHOULD YOU LINK YOUR SPECTRANET TO NIN

In order to stay connected and updated with the happenings around you, you have to link your Spectranet with your NIN.

HOW TO LINK SPECTRANET TO YOUR NIN

After your NIN registration, link your NIN to your phone number first, then link it to spectranet.
Follow the following steps to Link your NIN to your phone number:
For MTN, dial *785*NIN# or visit  http://nin.mtnonline.com/.

For 9mobile, dial *996# to link your NIN, you can also dial the code: *200*8# to check the status of your NIN pairing or visit http://9mobile.com.ng/nin

For Glo, send an SMS to 109 from your device. The SMS follows this format: UPDATE NIN NIN FIRSTNAME LASTNAME.

For Airtel, dial *121*1#

Then to update the NIN to your spectranet, go to www.spectranet.com.ng/nin.

Following the directive from NCC, requiring all subscribers to provide valid National Identification Number (NIN) to update SIM registration records.

Note that the NIN you submit will be regarded as unverified until proper validation is done through the database of NIMC.
