1st JAN WED NEW YEAR’S DAY

This is the first day of the Year and a day for all Nigerians to strategize and prepare for the new year. This day is regarded as New Year Day.

10th APR FRI GOOD FRIDAY

This year’s Good Friday is a special one with the Appropriate day falls on a Friday. This is a day Christians gather together to honor the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death.

Historically the Christians believed that Jesus died and resurrected on the third day.

The Christians observed some sort of Holy time in the presence of God, also this period is referred to as “Holy Week” as part of the Paschal period especially in Roman Catholic liturgy. This is a Friday preceding Easter Sunday and may coincide with the Jewish observance of Passover.

13th APR MON EASTER MONDAY

This Holiday is majorly for Christians and it is a day Christians return from various retreats in Nigeria.

Easter Monday is the second day of Bright Week. It is referred to as the Eastertide and analogously in the Byzantine Rite.

1st MAY FRI LABOUR DAY

The first day in the month of May is recognized as an International Workers’ Day. This day is referred to as Labour Day in Nigeria. It a time when labourers and the working classes in the country Celebrates.

24th MAY SUN ID EL FITRI

This day marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and prayer for all Muslims. It is the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal.

On this day every true Muslims attend communal prayers, listen to a khutba and give charity in the form of food during Eid al-Fitr.

25th MAY MON ID EL FITRI HOLIDAY

This is the second day of ID EL FITRI and an additional holiday to the major holiday. It is a day off for the general population, schools and most businesses are shut down on this day.

12th JUN FRI DEMOCRACY DAY

President Muhammadu Buhari Government of Nigeria declared June 12 to be the new Democracy Day. The president gives his inaugural address on June 12, 2019.

Democracy Day is a public holiday and a day off for the general population.

31 JUL FRI ID EL KABIR

Id el Kabir is a public holiday that the general population go off on this day.

This an Islamic period to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim generally known as Abraham and a day he obeys Allah’s command by sacrifice his son.

1 Oct Thu National Day

National Day is a public holiday in which the general population shut down.

Id el Maulud is a significant public holiday in Nigeria. This is one of the major holidays observed by the Muslims in the country.

Every 25th of December is Christmas day. In 2020 the Christmas day will be on a Friday.

One of the most celebrated day in Nigeria is Christmas Day. Every 25th in Nigeria is a celebration time for both Christians and Muslims.
