Victor Cruz (born on 11th of November 1986) in Paterson, New Jersey. He is 33 years old at the moment. In a Paterson plagued by gangs and drugs, the child of Michael Walker, an African-American firefighter, and Puerto Rican-born Blanca Cruz, young Victor came up. There were few prospects, especially for young boys of colour like himself.
The slender (just 165 pounds) and short (5’9) “Cruz made appearances on the football field at Paterson Catholic High School, both as a receiver and a kick-back.
But he was denied the chance by poor college boards at any scholarship. Then, Cruz registered at the Bridgton Academy in Maine after graduating in 2004, where he did a post-graduate year to improve his grades and keep playing football.
In fall 2005, Cruz registered at the Massachusetts University with better test scores. That season, the football team redshirted him, hoping he would be ready to play next year.
Yet poor grades prompted Cruz to switch schools and return to Paterson to regroup and take courses to improve his college grades at a local community school.
The off-year has proven to be an arduous time for Cruz. He never walked out humiliated by wanting to live at home again. But a tragedy occurred when his dad ended his life. The death of his father forced Cruz to take responsibility for his actions more seriously.
“I had to be the man of the family,” he told The New York Times later on. “It was up to me not to waste the opportunities I had been given. I had to study and work. There was still light at the end of the tunnel for me, and while it might have been dim, I had to run to it with everything in me.”
Cruz re-enrolled at UMass the following fall. On the field, Cruz transformed himself to one of the most celebrated recipients in the program’s history and placed in the top 10 in many career statistics although he only played as a complete-time team starter for two seasons.

But there wasn’t a rookie breakthrough year in the cards. The young receiver was forced by a serious groin injury to miss almost all of the 2010 season.
Cruz was forced into the starting lineup with injuries plaguing the Giants ‘ receivers at the start of the 2011 season. He spent no time profiting from the situation.
